    Tablet PC’s – What’s your experience?

I work in a mid-size Dr’s office. I purchased 9 HP tc4200 tablets about 2 years ago. The Dr’s and med. asst’s. use them wireless in the patient rooms. We have to have the touch-screen/pen due to the software we’re running.

I need to purchase some new ones (not sure how many yet), for new employees. The tc4200’s have been relatively maintenance free and fairly sturdy (only one dropped so far – required a new hard drive), but of course that model is now out of date. Anybody had any experiences – good or bad – with tablets? What model?

We have two Toshiba Portege M200 and five M400. While both of these models are old and older, at the time they were new I found their performance to be substantially slower than non-tablet laptops of the same vintage. Slower to boot, slower to respond to mouse, keyboard, or touch screen input, slower to process data. Toshiba may have improved the performance in the 18 months since we purchased the M400 systems, but if I had to buy a tablet today I’d buy something else.
