TCP/IP

By Lino767 ·
My static ip on my file and exchange server changes to dynamiic without anybodies intervention. If I go back and reset to static, it changes to dynamic again. I check my DHCP and DNS, both are fine. Let me know if you hane any idea - Thank you.

Sounds like someone is just messing around, have you tried changing the administrator password? who else has access to the server?

I assume that the static IP addresses being used on the file server and exchange servers are OUTSIDE the range of DHCP addresses being assigned? How soon after you setup the static IP addresses do they change?

what r the dynamic ip's their assigning - if their in the 169.254.x.x range u have have to disable ip auto configuration in the registry - make sure you backup the registry making any changes.

for win98/me
start > run > regedit

HKLM>System>CurrentControlSet>Services>VxD>DHCP

add the following registry entry

IPAutoconfigurationEnabled

if this entry already exists change the value data to 0

for win2000/xp/server 2003

start > run > regedit

HKLM>System>CurrentControlSet>Services>Tcpip>Parameters>Interpaces>Adapter subkey

IPAutoconfigurationEnabled

if this entry already exists change the value data to 0

1 enables apipa addressing which is the default if this registry key does not exist
