ThinkPad 600 power input jack problems?

By kehildeb ·
Just wondering if anybody has a simple fix for a well used power input jack for the ThinkPad 600? I have tried jamming in some foil or paper in order to make a more solid conection but have had a frustrating time with power outs, if you know what I mean..
Any suggestions?

Have The Jack Replaced

by TheChas In reply to ThinkPad 600 power input ...

The best course of action is to have the power jack replaced.

A good technician with the proper soldering equipment should be able to replace the power jack in little more time than it takes to open up and reassemble the laptop.

Jamming ANYTHING into the jack will only make things wear out faster. Foil could even short out the jack and **** up both the power supply and your battery.

Thanks go to TheChas for the suggestion. I was looking for some DIY info but your suggestion is sound as well. Rest assured, I am very carefull as to what I jamm in there and my battery has long since been used as a paper weight. When all is said and done taking the thing to a tech probably works best! THanks again..
