threats to the internet?

By gibbonsteven ·
in the last few years i have heard many different sources imply that there may be restrictions placed on the internet eg berlin firewall etc.
so my question is this how likly is it that the ptb governments etc could restrict access or block content and if so is there anything we could do to keep this vital resource free as it was intended.

thank you in advance all info would be welcome.

Asked whether he envisaged fees at his British papers such as the Times, the Sunday Times, the Sun and the News of the World, he replied: "We're absolutely looking at that." Taking questions on a conference call with reporters and analysts, he said that moves could begin "within the next 12 months?" adding: "The current days of the internet will soon be over."

Where did you get the "free as intended" concept?

Where did you get the idea the Internet was intended to be free? Originally, it wasn't supposed to be available outside a very limited academic / research community.

Back in the early 80s I was almost scared to mention down the local pub, just what I'd spent quite a bit of my working day doing. Mainly because I'd frequently been laughed out the door - the average bloke on the street had never heard of ARPANET and viewed anyone that mentioned it, as being a bit loopy.

It was as you say - only the one's that had any reason for being there could even get a look in.

Whatever it was, it wasn't meant to be a Free For All.

They had a bag but were complaining about not getting a buzz off of it. The dude had sold them manure...... :^0

Where it grew wild for the cultivation of hemp. Two days of driving, three black trash bags full, and nothing but a headache.

Ahh... POT ! -

The memories keep drifting away.

Tried some one (all) Bank Holiday weekend in the early 80s. Come the Tuesday morning, up with the lark and drove off to work with a smile on my face. Got to work, hit the coffee machine, sat down at my desk, picked up the phone and couldn't remember ANY of the multitude of phone numbers I'd been dialling for the past 4 years. Couldn't remember driving to work that morning. Panic set in.

Wandered around most of the day 'just checking up' on different projects scattered around the building, until the phone numbers began to seep back into my addled brain.

Never smoked Pot again.

Found out about 10 years later that the bloke who'd supplied the home-grown stuff had endured much the same Tuesday morning as I had, but had opted to continue cultivating and using this stuff. Was told he was now the permanent occupant of a rocking chair in some nursing home somewhere.

When I heard this I got really annoyed - I hadn't been offered the chance to buy his car!! :^0

I gave up the smoke when all it did was make me hungry and tired. Last thing I want is something that will make me eat and sleep more!
