Toshiba Protege m400-s5032

I have a Toshiba Protege m400-s5032 tablet notebook that a user just bought. She wants it setup for our network. I tried installing windows xp pro that we have a network install setup for, once the install restarts after completeing the machine blue screens and restarts itself. It came with windows Vista, is there something im missing? Perhaps a driver i need to add to the install? Thanks for your help.

Why did you kill off the Vista installation?

Was there something wrong with the NB before you installed XP?

I killed off Vista because we do not support vista on our network yet. So i can’t deliver the machine to the user with Vista. thats the word im getting now atleast from higher up. There was nothing wrong as for as i could see.

I just had to deal with this issue.

Before you can install Windows XP, you will have to change the RAID settings to RAID0 from JBOD in the BIOS. If the HDD setting is set to JBOD then windows can only be installed from the Toshiba recovery CD. The blue screen you get with XP is because XP does not have native support for the SATA driver – Vista does. Therefore you will need the Toshiba SATA driver loaded on a floppy disk so that you can install a 3rd party RAID driver during the windows install.
