Toshiba Satellitle No Video

I have a Toshiba Satellite 1695CDT which when turned on I get no video on the TFT or by using the monitor connector on the rear. Any ideas?? Toshiba was no help. Will resetting the BIOS help?

My 1st thought is that you've lost the video chip on the mobo especially when it won't work on an external monitor. Was it a sudden thing, ie. worked fine last time you booted up and then the next time it didn't? Does it seem to be going thru the POST even though you can't see it happening. Has the unit been dropped, jostled around, abused in other ways. Loose RAM can stop a boot dead in it's tracks and you'll never see anything on the screen. My $.02 worth anyway. Hope isn't your mobo!

well, make sure laptop is set up to send video out the external connector (on the rear)...you ususally change this either thru the BIOS or with keyboard...but Toshiba woulda told you this...
oh dear, you've probably tried all this but how about checking contrast/brightness. try booting in safe mode...
unless you can disable on-board video in the BIOS (and it is disabled) i don't think resetting BIOS will help you...otoh, what have you got to lose? can you get your hands on a docking station with expansion slots to try a replacement video card? good luck...

I have had a similar problem on the same system. Toshiba told me the issue was in the control that switches between the TFT and the CRT. It was malfunctioning. Unfortunately, the system was out of warranty, and it would have cost 300.00-500.00 tosend the system in for repair to toshiba. Call toshiba again and tell them about this.

it could also be the vid chip on the mb as the first answer said.
