I'm having trouble using websites that I've had no problems using before. On the websites concerned any information that was in the left hand pane doesn't respond. I've contacted the website and they've told me to clear my temporary internet files and delete my cookies, which I've done but the problem still remains. I've checked my security settings against another computer that can use these sites and they are identical. Can anyone help me?????

There have been some viruses recently that have been targeting the HOSTS file, redirecting some popular sites (like Google) to either nothing or to the wrong sites. So, maybe that is what is ailing your computer. The location of the HOSTS file does vary, depending on which Windows OS you have. If it is WinXP, then open My Computer and go to C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC and the HOSTS file is in there. Open it in Notepad, and see if it has anything in there that is causing your problem. Remove anything that should not be there, save the changes, and make sure the saved HOSTS file does NOT have a file extension. The file is not called "HOSTS.txt", just "HOSTS". And run a full anti-virus scan.
If you're asking for technical help, please be sure to include all your system info, including operating system, model number, and any other specifics related to the problem. Also please exercise your best judgment when posting in the forums--revealing personal information such as your e-mail address, telephone number, and address is not recommended.
