    Tyan S1854 Trinity 400 Motherboard

    Locked

    by loohye ·

I have a Tyan S1854 Trinity 400. It has two processor sockets, a Socket1, which is a Pentium 3 500mhz and I’m not sure what the other one is, but I believe it houses a 1ghz processor.
My question is, does anyone know the socket number of the 1ghz processor. the deal is you can only run one processor, not both. thank you

Technical Questions will usually get a quicker response if you post them in the Technical Q&A section of the site.

As an added benefit, you get an email when an answer is posted.

Anyhow, you have a combo Slot 1 / Socket 370 motherboard.

TYAN has a page that lists supported CPUs:

      http://www.tyan.com/support/html/cpu_pentium_ii_iii_celeron.html

I see that there are a number of notes for your motherboard. So, what CPU you can use is dependent upon which revision board you have.

The other socket(small square) is a 370 and you are correct on the processor size. It is the max speed for that type- you can use a smaller frequency processor it does not have to be a 1GHZ.

This is a good P3 board I’ve used one with XP for years. It is socket 370 & Slot 1 CPU compatible. The 370 slot can handle a 1000MHz celeron, The slot 1 I have been using a 750MHz,but my reaserch says it can handle up to a 866MHz in slot1.It will also handle both 100 and 133 bus speed, but whatever your CPUs speed is your memory must match. It can handle up to 768,and according to some research maybe 1.5 Gigs.(tall mabye)
