Unable to access the Internet via VPN.

Hi,
One of my user’s based in the states is unable to access the Internet/Intranet when connecting to the network via VPN. The user is on win2k and can connect to all other networked resources (mail, office shares etc).
The user has a home pc also connected through his router, and that picks up the internet fine.
I have checked his internet settings and they appear to be correct, i have talked him through flushing the dns cache, stopping and restarting the dns service, deleting all temp internet files, and offline internet folders, and also tried changing the VPN Server he connects through, but he is still unable to connect to the intranet/internet via the dns name.
I aksed him to try connecting to the corporate intranet via it’s IP Address, and this worked, however, the same cannot be said for external websites.
Anyone know what the problem might be? possible corrupt dns cache, but how could i tell?
