Upgrade server 2k3 eval

By gregmoon ·
I am currently running an evaluation copy of windows server 2003 std r2 (build 3790) that is about to expire. I have a promo copy of windows server 2003 enterprise edition (P72-00001)and was wondering if I could use that to upgrade the evaluation copy without messing up everything I currently have running. I don't really need the bells and whistles with EE, but if it will keep what I have running on the evaluation machine, my needs will be met.

Thanks

I do not think you can..

You will have to but the real software.
What you have is a very small trial version and only a small part of what it can do for you, so the best way is to backup what you have and then buy your new server software and then restore your bits back. :)

Please post back if you have any more problems or questions.

2k3 r2 std eval to 2k3 r1 EE promo?

by gregmoon In reply to I do not think you can..

The win 2k3 std evaluation version I am running is fully operational, but comes with 180 day cut off. You can upgrade this fairly easy with 2k3 std retail (full version) w/o losing your settings. The P72-00001 enterprise edition is also a full version. The possible problems I forsee is the promo version is R1 and the std eval currently running is R2. I believe the upgrade path is compatible, but want to know what else to expect.

Thanks
