I have a question related to upgrading a fast ethernet network to a gigabit network. We have upgraded all desktop NICs to support gigabit EN, we have also purchased all gigabit switches for our servers…but, will this all matter if we keep our Cisco 1720 router in place?
It looks like the router only has a 10/100 NIC. Since the router is in front of the gigabit switches, we won’t be able to fully reach the gigabit speeds…am I correct on that assumption?
