Upload a Webpage

By YVONNE_TONG ·
Hi everybody,
I've a question over here. I'm using Dreamweaver to create my website. After designed my webpage. I intend to use the free website such as Anglefire to upload my file. However, it fail. This is because Anglefire itself has it own index.htm file. It does not accept my index.htm that I've created in the Dreamweaver. Now, my problem is I can't delete off the index.htm file that given by Anglefire. I'll be appreaciate if anyone can assist me in this area. Thank you.

I'm guessing that the index.htm on the Angelfire site is one that they have put there for you as a placeholder (i.e. a basic 'under construction' page). Using Dreamweaver's FTP tools you should be able to just overwrite that file, unless Angelfire themselves have set it to Read-only. Try downloading a diferent FTP package, such as SmartFTP and try the transfer again. I have found that from time to time Dreamweaver won't let me delete or overwrite files on my own site area, but one of the others will. SmartFTP can be got free at www.smartftp.com, or you could search for Cute-FTP as well.

If these still don't work, then contact Angelfire direct and get them to sort it out for you.

HTH

Richard

Very simple - name the file differently, upload it, rename it on Angelfire - lemme know if this doesn't work

I also have angelfire as my personal website. I am able to upload my index.htm file. Once I've done that I rename it as index.html.
Hope this works out for you.

try using Anglefire's own ftp page to upload your index.html file, overwriting theres and then use Dreamweaver to upload the rest of your site.
