URL diversion

By artzelda ·
I am diverted to another site when ever I try to get to 2 specific sites. One of these sites is a popup to the other. If I go to another computer I can get to either of these sites. I have deleted all Temp internet file and cookies and deleted from the registry all references to the site I am diverted to. Does anyone have any suggestions of what I can do now?

URL diversion

Hi,

Is it possible that the other PCs have the site in their cache and that the sites are in fact "as they seem" on your PC? ie. they've changed recently and the other PCs are seeing the "old site"??

Cheers,
Tim.

No, I had cleared the cache in the other PC and I have been repeatedly been able to connect to the correct site. Only on this other PC have I not been able toconnect.

I take it you verified the DNS servers this machine is running, and they are the correct ones?
Open the HOSTS file on the system and see what it has. The HOSTS file has IP to FQDN name resolution; HOSTS files were what were used BEFORE there were DNS servers. And the HOSTS file is still enabled in all versions of Windows.
Just open HOSTS in Notepad and remove anything that should not be there.
