User profiles created in NT4 used by XP

By sranje ·
Hello Everybody,

I am very new to this so please excuse my ignorance in these simple question.

I work on a network that has a Window NT4 SP6 server. Of this server, there are 60 windows95 machine and 50 windows XP machine. Also there are 84 different users.

The question is how can I create user profiles on the NT server that the XP machines will use? Specifically since I am working in a school, how do I set that the XP machines to use our proxy server for internet access without going to each individual machine and setting it up locally. Is there such a way? Also, is there a way to include network mapping when user log in under different group policies or even usernames?

I would really appreciate any help in this matter or at last where do I start to find the answer.

Thank you very much for any help.

Two things you should be using are:

DHCP from the server. This will assign IP addresses, Gateway IP (address of the proxy), etc to the workstations.

Logon Scripts: Use a logon script for network mapping, printer mapping, etc. Put the path of the script in the users profile on the server.

I can't remember Win95 100% so there may be some extra config required for those desktops.
