video I want my 256 colors back help

By greg_baewer ·
While deleting some programs I accidently deleted some thing that reverted my system (P2.3oomhz win9 to 16 colors. I do not have a recovery disk where can I get the necessary driver(s) to restore my video to 256 colors or is there an easier way?

You will have to get the drivers from the video card manufacturers website, they should have a support section that will have the drivers in, that will fix your problem.

Hi Greg,

It seems as though you have lost your video drivers for your video display adapter card. If you can find your system documentation and what type of video card is installed, then you can check with the manufacturer's site for your video card for updated drivers. Download them and install them. When you reboot after the install, Windows should automatically recognize your video card. You might have a directory with drivers still on your system where you might find the drivers.

If you cannot find the documentation telling you what video card is installed, you will need to open the CPU case and look at the video card for the manufacturer's name and the chip number that identifies that card. Also, is it on-board (built into the motherboard), AGP, PCI, or ISA slot\bus technology? You can find out what they are by using various search engines or tech sites that will illustrate for you.

There are also lots of sites that offer free dirvers for hardware.

Another way to get your video card make and model is to watch closely when you boot your system. The first thing that displays is the video card's model and BIOS version. This might not be seen on some systems that display their own proprietary system logo's. Sometimes it goes by so fast that you have to boot a few times before you get all the info.

If you need to find out the make of your video adapter.

At boot up go into the BIOS, scroll through the options until you get to video adapters. Then it is just a case of locating the drivers on the manufacturers website and installing them.
