Leave the current setting at default when NT ask you to install the driver.
After you have installed the NT, leave the default display to be 16 color and resolution at 600x480. Apply the NT 4.0 Service Pack 4 or above after you have login into thesystem first time.
After you have installed the service pack successfully, install your ATI Rage Video. That should solve your problem because I have the same experience like this before.

What kind of ATI AGP you have? I have noticed some incompatibilities for the gigabyte Mb. with ATI. Anyhow, try to install service pack 6 without any driver for ATI, then put the driver.Try to see if the ATi site has new drivers for NT.

I agree with first answer. Most Video Drivers will only display higher resolution after the SP.

Good luck!

I got the same problem installing Windows NT 4.0 on some Compaq Deskpros that got ATI Rage video.

The problem was fixed by actually running the installation program. You should have a driver disk with your ATI Rage and run the Setup.

After thesetup, you'll see an "ATI" icon on your systray/status bar.

Look at your BIOS and see if you are assigning an IRQ to video. If not, change it.
