virtual desktop experience

The company that iam employed with is about to start using virtual desktop. I was wondering what other peoples experience is with it, pros and cons?

Fair bit slower disk access

The disk access is a fair bit slower if there are two or more VM's running or if the host is busy.

That's the only problems I've seen, that and Video memory is problematic.

If all of them were doing disk access at the same time, that would be brutal.

Example:
I just ran an update process, same process I run all the time. On my host machine, it takes roughly less than 20 seconds, on a virtual machine set to run at max speed and to have priority over the host.... It is still running as I type this message, 4 minutes later.
