Our Anti-virus (AVG Network Edition 8.5) is set to scan our server during the night.

This morning, when I checked the logs, AVG reported a "VBS/agent" virus in the C:\WINNT\INSTALLER folder.

I've never heard of this virus, is it safe to allow the AV remove it? What do the files in WINNT\INSTALLER do?

We're running SBS 2000, with AVG Network Edition 8.5

Boot into Safe Mode

and run a scan. That may remove the trojan.

for that info.

I booted into safe mode, AVG said it couldn't 'heal' so it's deleted the offending file.

Hope the entire system doesn't go haywire because this file has been deleted.

Not cause you any problems, but I would run another scan on the system just to be sure that it's gone, as I have removed virus before on servers/desktops to have them return again.
