Virus attack and infection

By sevine ·
I've been working with Win 2000. Today I received e-mail which is included virus. And I had already installed an antivirus program (norton antivirus) Althougt it found virus, virus infected my computer. Within a minute I couldn't run any .exe(alsoregedit.exe) file which is already installed on my computer. I realize that "HKEY_CURRENT_CONFIG" and "HKEY_CURRENT_USER deleted in the registry. I display registy on network. Now some of system files are working and someof them are not working.
Is there any solution to rescue all installed programs(not only data)?Or sould install win 2000 again?

You can try a repair but my own experience is that even the best attempts at repair leave some remote file somewhere that will eventually cause a problem. I would do a boot from a known clean floppy and at least reformat if not start from scratch and delete all partitions and then repartition the hd and reinstall the OS and all necessary aplications.

Of 12 machines I recently had infected and tried to fix I eventually completely redid 11 of them - not to mention the hours wasted with troublecalls from those machines

I found antivirus tool in symantec site. And I applied step by step what they said. So I cleaned virus in my registry. And I reinstalled antivirus toolkit.
Thanks for your concern.
