This might sound lame, but it really depends stricly on the virus. Try going to and looking up the virus name in the virus encyclopedia. The normally have a removal tool or at least instructions on how to manually remove the virus and all it's related files.

You can also try going to as I believe they have a virus scan you can run right off the web site so you know what virus you might have.

First off the easy way is to look for a free virus checker on the Web and install. The safest way is to get one that gives you a 30 day trial period. Use that when you first start up your machine. I would also install a freeware program called SpyBot. Spybot looks for hidden spyware and programs that may effect your Computers runing. The most effective way is to reformat your disk and reinstall Windows then go to the windows update sight and load Service packs and updates. Install Viruschecker next and run when loading the rest of your files. A firewall would be the next step.

First you have to identify the virus. There are online virus scanners.

Once you have identified the virus, you can find manual removal instructions on most of the virus sites.

The installation of a good virus software and regular daily updates will keep this from being an issue.
