VISTA can access restricted files in server - file permission problem

By kshido ·
Hi. My client has problem with file permission between Windows 2003 server and VISTA. Usually, VISTA would be denied access to files in server, but what I encounter is, VISTA can access server's files even its user is set "deny." VISTA user is not an administrator, and it's not a member of "Administrators" or even "users" groups in server.
The network is WORKGROUP. The server is a simple file server and has no active directly. The root folder "Share1" is shared and security permission is set allow "Everyone"
How do I configure so the VISTA user can't open restricted files in server?

The permissions are set to allow "Everyone", it simply means that all people connecting to it will be able to access the share.

To block the Vista machine from accessing the server I would create an account for everyone that uses the file server and add them to groups.

I would then add the appropriate group to the share and make sure that the user on the Vista machine is not added.
