I would like some info about VPN. I have a customer who needs a connection to link about 6 clients to a server in another country through their VPN. They don't have a server at the new office and would like to utilize the one on their HQ. I have suggested an ADSL modem, router, switch. The clients are on Windows Vista and do i need any additional software to support the VPN connection.

Select a router that can do VPN

by robo_dev In reply to VPN

my favorite are the Cisco ASA series since they can do a 'clientless' vpn, via web browser.

Many other VPN routers will work, although in most cases you need to purchase/install/maintain VPN client software for each PC.

An interesting open-source solution is called ADITO. It is a clientless VPN based on the SSL Explorer software that is now a commercial product from Barracuda networks.
