I have a Netgear FVS338 VPN set up and operational with the client software provided by Netgear. I can remotely connect to an XP machine inside the remote lan by mapping a network drive. This can be done either by IP address or computername (through hosts file). However, I can not connect to the W2000K domain server. I can see it on the VPN appliance through the browser management console. The error received is “specified network name is no longer available”. RRAS is configured in the server. The remote network 192.168.2.0 and the local network 192.168.1.0 are on two distinct subnets, although the server has two subnets one of which is the same as the 192.168.1.0 subnet.
