I,m seeking some help on the following senario, I enabled routing & remote access on a small business server 2003 box, I configured the selected user account to allow VPN connection through active directory, on the router side; (linksys BEFSR41 V3)
I'm forwarding port 1723 to routing & remoter access
enabled server.
on the client side; I configured a new vpn connection, when I try to connect it gets to the authentication part but it just hangs there for a while then I get the following message " error 721= remote computer did not respond " Please advice on what to check,
Thanks!

As you already know PPTP VPNs require tcp port 1723. But it also requires another protocol called GRE to be forwarded to your RRAS box. Sad to say that the Linksys does not do this. I advise you get a pix, since you have a small business server, I imagine a pix 501 would do.

PS: commands below to do the forwarding of PPTP on the pix
conduit permit tcp host 192.168.1.2 eq 1723 any
conduit permit gre host 192.168.1.2 any

PS2: the pix has a built in ipsec and pptp vpn server also, yet you can't use AD authetication

Comment on PS2: you cant use AD authentication without setting Radius on the PIX and Internet Authentication Services on the SBS Server
