VPN set up but can't access anything!!!

By magicspellspt ·

This is a rather stupid question, but I really can't find a way to make it work.

I have established a VPN connection between a windows XP pro server and a windows XP pro client. I had to work DDNS because of the dynamic IP of the server.

The point is, the connection is established, but I can't access a single resource of the server!

I believe that I might have forgot to do something, but I have no idea what.

Any suggestions??

Ipsec & mapping

by forestlake In reply to VPN set up but can't acce ...

1st check you can ping the local pc. If you can then try start/run/ then mapp ip.

e.g. \\ where this is the ip address that you were able to ping.

This will bring up a map of drives etc.

Otherwise, make sure you have an end point to the tunnel created by the VPN. Make sure you have IPsec passthrough and/or PPTP pass-through enabled.

Finally, maybe you need to change the IP address of the gateway/router to another subnet to avoid a conflict.
