W/less keyboard will not let PC standby.

By Ian Boothby ·
I bought a Creative wireless 6000 keyboard and hooked it up to my PC (AMD XP2000 running WinXP) but when I press the sleep button I get a window popup saying this device will not permit windows to enter standby.

It's OK on my friends PC (Intel 2400 running WinXP) I also tried HIS w/less keyboard-which sleeps ok on his setup but does not on mine.

Anyone got any pointers please?

here is what i would try:
look up on my brand wireless keyboard website to see if they have this issue
get and install latest 6000 drivers
examine properties of drivers
go to amd website and consider chipset driver upgrade and/or bios update as shotgun method to resolve?

Updated drivers for board and chipset but still no luck.

If there is configuration s/w for the keyboard, I'd look for some option to allow/not allow the PC to standby, or to allow/not allow the keyboard to "wake" your PC.

I believe my wireless LAN card offered options something like that. Good luck.
