w2k stand alone and NT PDC

By ericwi ·
Hi all,

Recently, I acquired a stand alone w2k box. My organisation is running NT 4.0 domain. I understand I need to format and install my new box as nt BDC first, migrate all users , convert it to PDC and install w2k with active directory.

Since I have not acquired the drivers for the new machine, is there a direct way to migrate all the users from the existing NT PDC box to the w2k box , afterwhich install
AD?

Please advice. Thanks

Migration

That wouldn't be the method I would recommend, as you leave no fall back path.

I would recommend:

Check that all applications can function with AD.

Install Active Directory on new server.

Leave in mixed mode.

Use the AD Migration tool to migrate user and computer accounts to AD.

Stand down the old NT domain when all users and resources are migrated.
