WAN PROTOCOL?

By Phil_ast04 ·
Hi there, i am wondering if i can use OSPF as a WAN protocol?

Say i have 5 routers each router at a different site all round the uk. can i use OSPF to route traffic? or do i use another Wan protocol such as BGP. no more than 400 hosts at any one site. any response would be greatly appriciated.

Thanks

Phil

OSPF is a DYNAMIC ROUTING protocol. It just tells the other routers where to send stuff. You can't package any data in it. You want a Media Access Control protocol (layer 2 of the OSI model) to send data in. Such as Ethernet, MPLS, ISDN, DSL etc.
