Design phase:
The boss wants access across Web:
1. Drill down reporting on tables of numbers
ie. view 1 – sales per quarter
ie. view 1.1 – sales per month
ie. view 1.3 – sales per week
2. Graphical plotting ofthe numbers
3. User configurable webpages
4. Adminstrative webpage display
5. 50 users max (for meetings)
6. db size(static images means huge)
7. updated once per week (1 year till archive)
I am looking into seagates-CrystalReports, hyperions-enterprise reporting and business objects – webintelligence. SAP datawarehouse was tried (totally non-functional), so the boss is now thinking about getting some tools. I’m inclined towards linux-APACHE-PHP-PostreSQL (with scripts generating the dynamic images).
My question then is:
Criticise the above apps and tools or suggest other reporting tools
If a couple of people have great answers I’ll repost to give points.
