what is available to create a data base

By tseymour ·
I am looking for a way to take files out of file cabinet and create a digital image of each sheet of paper in a file. This will include notes hand written as well as printer from my printer. I have some ideas on how to do this, but don't where to go to get help. I have not heard of anyone doing this. There has to be a better way then entering all this stuff into a dbase manually through a keyboard.

If you are familiar with Access, you can create an application/database in access to scan in documents.

With Access you can call any windows application such as your Twain driver for your scanner and have your documents stored in a table. You would simply add a couple reference fields for each record for searching out the document at a later time.

If this is not a program that you are familiar with then there are other pre programmed software such as Alchemy, I think that is how it is spelled, that will archive files in a database. This software came with an older HP CD Recorder that I purchased.

paperport offers scanners and software (including a database) that is resonable and would meet your needs. I would look into that. We almost selected them for our buisness needs, we did not because our engineering software did not interface to it, but that was the only reason.
