What is sector 2?

By jeremy ·
I was wondering if anyone could explain exactly what is held in sector 2 and if deleting sector 2 of the hard disk would get rid of dynamic drive overlay without harming the data on the drive. Also, does anyone know of software that would allow windows to recognize a hard drive that has Dynamic Drive Overlay installed on it? Thanks.

I'm don't want to insult you but if you have to ask that question you shouldn't even be thinking about doing anything yourself! Just about anything you try to do at this point will result in data loss. Space does not permit explaining DDO here, suffice it to say that it is a work-around for BIOS' and OS' that can't handle large drives. What you need to do is back-up the data FIRST, then remove the DDO using whatever appropriate utility you have. Do an FDISK /MBR, create desired partitions, format, and restore data. If you don't feel comfortable doing ANY of that, find a Tech in your area and pay him to do it for you.
