What’s the coolest quote from your favorite SiFi/geek movie?
Lockedby xfilz_1133 · about 12 years, 10 months ago
My favorite is from the movie The Core, where Theadore Donald ‘Rat’ Finch (played by Dj Qualls) was being asked to take control of the internet, “hack the planet.”
Rat: “How many languages do you speak?… I speak one. One Zero One Zero Zero. With that I could steal your money, your secrets, your sexual fantasies, your whole life. In any country, any time, any place I want. We multitask like you breathe. I couldn’t think as slow as you if I tried.”
That’s powerful geek kung-fu indeed….Topic is locked -

“You’re gonna need a bigger boat.”
I say “42” a lot, but I’m quoting the book; I never saw the movie.
Oh, wait; I remember now.
“I’m going to blow up the Earth; it obscures my view of Venus.”

Best Overall –
“You’re gonna need a bigger boat.” . . . and of course the several later references such as ” . . . and then we’ll get a bigger boat”
Best SF
“I’ll be back” – Arnold in Terminator.
Which is also my favorite screen saver slogan.Don

“Get busy living, or get busy dying.”
In terms of SciFi/geekness, the first quote that pops to mind is “I ain’t got time to bleed.”
Too bad Ventura retired from politics. Would make a great battle cry for either side of the health care reform debate! 😉

Spock: That is wise. Were I to invoke logic, however, logic clearly dictates that the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few.

As Palmetto said, you could probably come up with a top 20/50 list of quotes just from this movie alone.
I think it would make for another good discussion thread, too:
Which sequel was better than the original in a geek series by the widest margin.
I think Star Trek II would have to be the runaway winner.

In reply to Why didn’t this movie pop into my head???
‘Back to the Future II’. Don’t get me wrong, the first one was a great movie. The second one was so much better as a time travel story. You practically had to diagram the time lines to keep up. BTTF2 is to time travel what ‘The Sting’ is to con men movies.

Perhaps apocryphal: while filming the scene after the restoration of his katra, Spock delivers the line “Jim… your name is Jim.” Nimoy then turns to Uhura and says, “Jim… *your* name is Jim…”
