You have not said whether you are getting BIOS checks, memory test appear on the screen. If you are not and you are getting no power on beeps from the motherboard then I would make sure the video card is seated correctly. If you are geeting the BIOScheck you may need to go into the BIOS and detect the hard disk(s) and also set your boot order (boot from floppy/CD-rom). Finally you will get a blank screen from the Hard disk if it is blank because there is no OS for it to load...

Let me know how you get on and if you need any further help..

Regards,

Paul

[ Dell, 96, 8gb, 56k,50x,]

I have virtually the same problem. Here's mine: I switch on the computer, nothing happens. I mean nothing...for 30/50/ minutes. Then, out of nowhere, it kicks in and startsup. But, then, it takes another 30 minutes for windows to start. Frustrating as ****! Told by Dell support :"Replace the power supply."

All good advice so far. IF YOU CAN you may want to switch the hard drive with one which IS working, which will narrow down your problem search. For under $100 there is a USB exterior hard drive connector- plug and pray- which we have used for thison hard drive crashes. Also make sure the drive is seated properly and the cables are hooked up in the right direction, and the jumpers on the drive are set to "master."

If the drive worked prior to your changes, I have seen where the IDE cable is reversed on the connection either at the motherboard or the drive itself...thus causing absolutely nothing to happen upon starting the computer. You will just get a blank screen and no post.

As it has been said check the cables, but also try reseating the memory and the processor. Remove the memory amd processor from their slots and replace them, and make sure that they are seated firmly
