Why are popup windows on internet blank?

    Locked

    by sagittary ·

About a week ago all of the “pop-up” windows at whatever site I go to come up blank. As you well know, many of the sites that you “surf” to have “pop-up” windows you must use to carry out games, forms, reports, etc.

Since I am not running a “pop-up blocker”, what causes this and how can I correct it? I’m running MSIE 6.0 on Windows 98SE.

I’ve tried resetting to the IE defaults, and even re-installing IE 6.0. No luck in either case. Task Manager and Sysinfo show no foreign software running. Scandisk and Defrag are no help either.

This is the strangest problem I’ve come a across since 1991. I would appreciate any help in this matter.

    Thanks

None of those suggestions have worked for me.
I’m thinking of uninstalling IE and re-installing it. Also, since applying those suggested fixes, MSOutlook has ceased to function except in “safe” mode.

Well it seems that the only way to restore MSIE was to re-load windows (re-format the drive, etc).

So I saved those files important to us on various other hard drives, reformatted the drive, reinstalled windows, reinstalled the MSIE 6.0 SP-1 upgrade (update), re-installed MSOffice 2000 Professional and wouldn’t you kow it … MSOutlook will not work so now I guess I’ll have to use Outlook Express 6.0 (Doh!).
