Why do I keep getting w3wp.exe errors? IIS/WSUS related problem

Ok heres the situation I have a small website running in IIS6. Ive also installed PHP and MYSQL to support joomla (a content delivery service) on the site. Everything was running fine with this set up.
THen I installed WSUS on the same server (on pt:8530). I got it up and running but was never able to get any hosts to connect to it through GP. After I installed wsus was when i began getting these 2 errors every 3 hours or so:

Application Error : 1000
Message: Faulting application w3wp.exe, version 6.0.3790.3959, faulting module w3core.dll…

W3SVC : 1009
Message: A process serving application pool ‘DefaultAppPool’ terminated unexpectedly.

Im assuming theres some kind of misconfiguration caused by WSUS, but I dont know much about IIS and all that. Anybody have any ideas about this? Im worried if I un/reinstall IIS ill have problems getting joomla set back up.

**EDIT**
forgot to mention that I uninstalled WSUS from the server and still am getting the messages. Once I set WSUS up on another server with the default pt 80 I had no problems w/ it.
