Why does IPv6 prevent me accessing a WIN2K server?

by shaun.g . Updated 19 years, 2 months ago

I run a small network. I am student at university and I need to ensure I back up everyday, which I do. Just recently I found that I could not back up due to not having access to the server.

I run a win xp home machine with a win2k server. There is no domain controller, the server is stand alone, and just another pc. However, I could not access till I removed IPv6 from the winxp home pc. Why is that?

Also, it used to work till I had to reboot the server. I then removed IPv6 and all is accessible again.

Can someone please help?
