Why don't changes to about:config stay changed?

By drfiddler1 ·
iMesh Search got on my computer and set itself up on everything. I've cleared add-ons and cookies. iMesh has replaced my homepage. I took it off on Explorer and Mozilla Foxfire, but it kept returning. I am using Windows XP. So I made the changes in about:config and exited the page. It still comes back. What next?

The reason that this is retiring is that it is designed that way to make it hard to get rid of. You need to follow the laid out steps and also ideally turn off System Restore.

Infections like this hide themselves in running Programs within Windows and these can not be changed while they are running hence the difficulty in removing the infection.
