Why I cannot see all files in a network drive from a Win XP machine?

By ab7107100 ·
Hi, I just installed in my home network, a Simplenet NAS head with an USB IOMEGA drive (NTFS formatted).
I coppied initially the files directly from the computer, without the simplenet device, and verified all ok(because of obviously, the fastest throughput). After, I installed the drive through the simplenet device. When I browse the NAS folder, in my XP media edition Dell Inspiron 9300 home computer, it reports only some of the files, (252 only instead of more than 1000 that are there). When I list through a command prompt session, I get the same results. When I open an FTP session, (the simplenet device is also an FTP server) I can see and access all files.
I tried also with my netbook, and I can access all the files, so it looks like there is something wrong in my home computer. No idea where to start...
It looks like the files shown are at least in one of the folders, alfabeticaly ordered, and the listed files cut at the end of first letter A. In some subfolders I have not been able to recognize a pattern.
Files are mainly mp3's and pics....
Windows is automatically updated, is in SP3. I turned Win firewall of, and is the same, have not tried disabling antivirus...
The Simplenet device looks like it operates in Linux, with a samba application (might be talking sh... do not really know)
Browsing the internet found this also unsolved in http://www.experts-exchange.com/OS/Microsoft_Operating_Systems/Windows/XP/Q_23793179.html
Any help?
Jorge
