Why multiple copies of a backup??

By pjkelly ·
Does anyone know why Backup Exec 12.5 on a Windows 2008 Small Business Server creates litterally 8 copies of the same backup file (based on the size of the file, not the name) during one backup job run? This process is filling my backup drive to the point that the device is useless unless i am standing next to it at 2 am to change out the drive etc.

Not too sure but

how about deleting and recreating the job to see if that solves the problem.

Thanks Nimmo, but as the the saying goes... been there.. done that..
I may have to re-do the jobs as incrementals instead of fulls... i was having so much fun doing full backups every night.
Thanks again

Backup Exec multiple copies

I'm not exactly sure about this, I haven't used Backup Exec in a long time but is there a setting that states how may retries to run.

Did you find anything in the log that suggests a failure or why it is running so many backups.

Go Through each setting in your backup you might have skipped a default setting that is doing a retry on locked or missing files.
