Win 2003 server

By rgoodman ·
OK I have a win 2003 server that functions as a 2nd DC as well as an exchange server.
Over the past while I have noticed that it takes FOREVER to restart. It will sit on the applying computer settings screen for 45 min to an hour before finally going in.
It also takes it a while to shut down.
Any thoughts?

The symptoms of taking a ridiculous amount of time to start up, is generally due to DNS settings. If this is a DC, then DNS should be installed and configured on this server, with your Active Directory domain name (mycompany.local) as an AD integrated forward lookup zone. Therefore the network properties for the primary NIC should be configured with this server's own IP as the first DNS server.
