Win XP and DirectX 8,1 Troubles…

by bdybldkris . Updated 23 years, 5 months ago

I’m having trouble with DirectX 8.1 applications. Every game that I have that requires 8.1 will not work correctly. When I run Diags for DirectX the test for Direc3D 8.x does not appear correctly. The box that is supposed to be rotating is distorted. All videos, etc work fine, but games that require 3D acceleration are faulty. They don’t lock up, but display incorrectly with extra lines, etc on the screen. It tells me to reinstall DirectX but I don’t know how to do that with it being a part of Windows XP. I’ve reinstalled the service pack and the whole software package with no luck. I’ve also ensured that that the drivers are all up to date. Please help….
