Win XP & Win 2000 Network Config Compare

By zoe_ ·
This seems to me it should have been very easy to find on the web, but alas, I have failed. All I am looking for is a comparison of the necessary network installation and configuration between Windows XP and Windows 2000 Professional. I have tried everything I can think of to look up an answer, but have come up empty. So what are the differences and the similarities?

Perhaps it's because the question is too vague.

Vaguely, there are very few differences. XP has a firewall, 2000 doesn't. XP is a much faster boot up and logon than 2000. XP uses fast logon (see here: http://www.jsiinc.com/SUBI/tip4100/rh4119.htm)

Other than that XP requires TCP/IP... umm... yeah. Not much else to say

This article appears to have what you want but requires a
TechProGuild Membership (free for 30days I think):

Sorry about the link. I posted from the Mac and the URL wraps in the Safari Browser. Also, it is the TechProGuild so it will come up with a signup form.

Here is a better way to get the info. Below is what I searched for and the resulting google URL.

Do a Google search for:

differences "windows xp" "windows 2000" "network configuration"

Here is the result:

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&q=differences+%22windows+xp%22+%22windows+2000%22+%22network+configuration%22&btnG=Search

Good Luck,

razz
