Win2k DHCP W/ WINNT Please help URGENT

By michael.burgess ·
Scenario:

I have DHCP on a Windows 2000 Server. I have Windows 98 and Windows 2000/XP machines working fine from this DHCP server. My problem is with any Windows NT machines the DHCP server will not assign them(the NT Machines) a gateway. Thus, none of my NT machines are working with DHCP.

Additional INFO:
MY PDC is Windows NT
I am not on ACTIVE DIRECTORY
All machines work except Windows NT Machines

Hi,

Open the DHCP server console. Select the servername and view it's properties. In the DNS tab, check the following:
Automatically update DHCP client information in DNS and Allways update DNS. Also check the Enable updats for DNS clients that do not support dynamic updates.

Then expand the tree to the Scope options. Configure Options to include your router information. You will need to enter the router IP here.

Restart your DHCP server and check with your NT clients. If this does not work, open a command prompt and type ipconfig /all at the NT client and also from the Win2K/XP client. Post the two outputs here for me (and others) to work out a solution. :-)

Good Luck

Having had a look at the other thread its obviously some issue with NT4 in a mixed environment.

The trouble shooting for this is probably going to be a long winded process and probably not worth it for a busy tech.

How about just sticking a 'route add' command in a login script for the affected workstations as a workaround?

'scuze this if you think it is flip but you are not using dhcp instead of static because why?
