Win2k3 Server Data, making an image

By metallicragex ·

I'm working for a company presently and we had a bit of a systems crash. We had to reinstall much of the programs on the server and we want to prepare incase something like this happens again. We want to make an exact image of the data and the form of the files on the server, so that we can simply put it in and the server will be exactly as it was before a crash.

How would I go about doing this? Besides options like Acronis, and what about Ghost? Would that work? Thanks.

it is all a trade off. using ghost is a good solution but it consumes a great deal of time to image thew whole server. I would separate the servers partitions so that the system and programs reside on one and the user data on the other. any transient data, settings etc need to reside on the data partition. now, since the system partiton is fairly static it can be imaged each time you make a change. the data partition should have a regular backup strategy for backing up data depending upon the risk factors for that data. the program used is not as important as the process put in place. ghost is fine.
