window sound recorder doesn't record

By sudharsaninsu ·
I have a system with intel celeron 1100 mhz. processor in mercury motherboard operating with Windows 98SE,4.10 build 2222, 128 Mb RAM and two hard disks 40GB, CD-R drive and CDRW drive. The system is protected with pccillin 2002 with the latest virus def. files. The system has an avance AC97 audio soundcard builtin the motherboard.

I also have psound media rack. When I try to record a music given through the audio aux and selected line in in the mediarack, it does not record the music thoughI hear the music in the audio speakers. I tried then with the windows sound recorder. It also doesn't record. But, when a music file is opened, they are able to play.

Can someone suggest what could have gone wrong with the settings. Thanks.pscraja

window sound recorder doesn't record

Have you enabled (unmuted) the device in question in the mixer? Down on the Startmenu taskbar, there should be a speaker icon next to the clock. Double click that icon, which will bring up the volume control panel. Select Options menu, then properties. Then change the radio button to Recording. Make sure the box of the device input that you would like to record is selected, then hit ok. The window has changed to Recording Control. Check the input device's volume slider and mute button tobe certain that it is unmuted and it at a decent volume - about halfway should be sufficient for testing purposes. If this doesn't help, repost any other info that you may come across, and someone will figure it out in short order. GL!
