Windows 2000 Advace Server partially hung

By iwantam ·
We have Win2k AS running Oracle 9i. Once in awhile the system partially hung. What I mean by partially hung is, the console show the blue screen (not the blue screen of death) with the cursor still moveable, but I could not login. Through terminal server could connect but stop until the blue screen.

If I connect through "Computer Managent" utilities from other server, yes the system looks like idling.

Since we could not do anything normally we rebooted the system.

The questions are:
Why the server was partially hung, if it was not really hung can we make it to be normal again (for login or terminal server login) without rebooting the system?

How could we capture the memory dump during the partially hung begin to happen? Any sugestion?

How we know what actually happened since there was not any log?

Technical Question

by BFilmFan In reply to Windows 2000 Advace Serve ...

How much memory is the server?

What all is loading once Windows attempts to login and startup?

Has the server been scanned for malware and viruses?

Is this a member server or a domain controller?

Have you called Oracle or Microsoft with the issue?
