by naes23 . Updated 19 years, 3 months ago

Greetings

I?m emailing this topic because I vet run into a Brick Wall I hope you will be able to make sense of all this…..
Here Goes

Background Scenario
The Company that I?m working for is a Radio Station, in saying so we have 13-15 PC’s Running Windows Xp, 5 G4-G5 Macintosh running 0sX.

We recently Bought 3 IBM Server 2 X226 and 1 X100 (running windows 2003), and a P4 to run Linux(Fedora 4) the whole reason for getting this servers is as follows
1. Server 1 to be a General Office server -It will be looking after 13 + Computers
2. Server 2 to be a Studio server its main function would be to run the Broadcast & Pre Edit Studio (2 Pcs)
3. Server 3 to be a news room / press Bureau Server its Function would be keeping stories i.e. docs, pictures (10pcs+)
4. P4 Linux to be used to run email domain for all this pcs
5. Cisco 2620 Router for our Fiber Optic Connection to the Internet

1.) IBM eServer X series 226
I Have installed Windows 2003 on both servers , but they seem to give me a partion of 8GB
on my SCSI Drive I Installed the OS using the Cd’s that comes with servers IBM Director it does not allow me to choose a partion size that I want, Is that normal I am not sure ? what is the correct/recommend partion size
Specs SCSI 80 GB
Intel ZION 3.0ghz Processor

2.)IBM eServer Xseries100
I Have installed Windows 2003 on this server ,no I hassles (I Think) I installed the OS on the whole 80GB SATA Drive It Allowed to chooses my partion Size
Specs SATA 80 GB

3.) Intel Celeron D
I Have installed Fedora 4 on this PC (server) ,no I hassles (I Think) I installed the OS on the whole 40GB ATA
Specs Intel Celeron D Processor

The 4 Servers will be Setup as Follows
1. Live Broadcast Studio Server IBM eServer X series 226

The main Function will be Keeping Music files and be used for streaming music files for playback in the studios
Q.My main worry is Ip address Scheme how do I do that and Do I Need to put this
Machines in their own domain e.g. (Studios)
they must be also be online on the net 24/7 also and be able to broadcast with out them going down at any given time , they must also access the server at any given time

2. Office News Bureau Server IBM eServer Xseries100

Like the name suggest it will be Keeping Stories and also it would be a Print Server for the News team , the reporters should be able to access the 1.Internet 2.Files (edited Stories) and past issues kept on this server

Q.Should they also be in the same domain or do I create their own domain, Should they use same Ip address class

3. General Office Server IBM eServer X series 226

This Server will be in charge, Files storage for staff and print manager for the office printers
Q. Do I create another domain for this server 2, do I put another address class

4. Email Server Intel Celeron D

Like name suggest it will be an email Server running Fedora4.2
Q.I want to find out what do I do with the Ip address scheme and also domain.

This entire servers will/must be running through on a LAN 100/10 Mb, accessing the internet Via a CISCO Router2621

Q.What I am not sure off is the how I go about my Ip addressing scheme and also how do I go about the domains for the servers and that is it practical

What Antivirus Would You recommend for me to run on the Servers ?
3.)Do I Setup A Child Domain ,a Forest imp now stuck In don?t know which route to take
security
How Practical Is it

I would appreciate an help I can get

Sean
