Windows 7 GUI

By robsoni ·
Hello all,

I would like to eventually upgrade my small office network from XP to 7 but seem to be having issues with the Aero GUI. Admin accounts will display the Aero fine but normal Users have the updated windows classic desktop. They should have rights to change their desktop background but this won't allow them to select the Aero GUI.
I don't know what part of AD (server 2003) enforces this.

Configure a group policy to set the theme..

You can configure group policy to set the theme. The option is in USER CONFIGURATION>ADMIN TEMPLATES>CONTROL PANEL>PERSONALISATION. Here you can see the option to load a specific theme for the particular user. If you dont want to do this you can play around and can findout an option from the CONTROL PANEL or DISPLAY setting in ADMINISTRATIVE TEMPLATES. Or else you can give the user admin privilege to change the theme to any theme. I know you may not require the user to get admin access. :) If you need any more help i can have a try... Hope this info helps you.

Thanks. I was looking at Desktop settings rather than Display. Makes sense now! Thanks
