WINDOWS 7, Remote Desktop works fine with two 2003 servers but not the 3rd?

By KWOUK79 ·
Remote Desktop is working fine with my DC server, as well as my DCHP server but not with my file server???

The machines I rdc to are all windows 2003 enterprise servers.

In vista and xp I can rdc with no problems connecting to my file server.

Windows 7 gives me this error-->

"Because of a protocol error, this session will be disconnected. please try connecting to the remote computer again"

I don't get it, anyone else seen this

ok... after three whole days of slamming my head in the car door, I have come to the conclusion that the problem is the mstscax.dll and mstsc.exe in the system 32 file

and the other two files in the en-US or your language folder, those four files are the culprit, they are causing the unstable connection, reason being is that I replaced those files with a vista system that has a known good working rdc, and it works flawlessly in windows 7!

RDC was working

The problem wasn't actually with the service running, rather it was the new version of the mstsc.exe 6.1 version of the rdc. When I switched to the earlier version on vista and installed it on windows 7 it worked fine.
