Windows 95 Bootup Failure

By dobrowskicv ·
When booting up, the PC seems to be normal until it reaches the log name/password screen at which time it freezes. The only way I can boot normal is to reboot using the F% key to save mode, then shut the computer down. Then it will let me bootup normal. The next time I use the computer I have to go through the same procedure. Anyone that can help solve this problem? Thanks!

Are you attempting to use DHCP to obtain your IP address?? If so, the computer may be waiting for a DHCP service to respond...seeming to freeze.

If this is not the case, check those memory settings in BIOS....

1-Check the network configurations to make sure there have been no changes
2-Update the Video card driver
3-check for BIOS Update

There is something in the device manager that is conflicting with another device, boot in safe mode and see if you have doubles on anything, useally the souond card is the problem?

Verify all network settings, then reboot in safe mode and delete all of the doubles you have in the device manager - if you have had your computer for awhile, you should find a lot of them
